Invitation to join the Committee:

The Committee would like two or three of our members to join the happy band of the Committee. We would like to have more people in the group to share out responsibilities and be available when others cannot be there. We meet once a month on a Monday morning, usually at Val Holland's house 1, Princes Gardens, 10am. If anyone is interested and would like to come along, without any obligation, to the next meeting on Monday 9th May,  please get in touch with Judy.

We now have the details of our July Coach Trip, once again to be led by the ever popular Brian Draper. The coach will leave Codsall Village Hall at 8.30am on Saturday 9th July.

Leave Codsall to travel through Worcester onto A44

Coffee stop for 1 hour in Leominster. The Grange near the Priory is worth seeing. It was built by John Able, king's carpenter to Charles I.

On through the black and white villages of  Eardisland and Pembridge. The Lyonshall at Pembridge is particularly attractive.

Lunch in Kington where there are 2 pubs, 2 fish and chip shops  and within a short walk Pat's Pantry and for those who want to picnic there is a local amenity area by the river with seating.

After lunch we go to Eardisley and Weobley where,  if there is time, we will spend 20/25 minutes in this classic black and white setting. Then on through Dilwin to the tea- stop at Monkland Cheese Dairy where  they make their own cheeses to supply to places like the Mousetrap in Ludow. From here we return home to arrive back in Codsall at about 6.30pm.

The normal booking form is at the end of the Newsletter.

The cost per person is only £14.  Completed forms and the appropriate money / cheques should be returned to Fred Turley, 42 Princes Gardens, Codsall. WV8 2DH Tel: 843586 as soon as possible.

'Beating the Bounds Walk'The successful reinstatement of this walk in 2013 has ensured that it will become an annual event. The date for this year is Saturday 14h May starting from St Nicholas Church at 9.30am. The route this year will go from the Church towards Codsall Wood.

If people wish to join in later they could meet up at the Woodman in Bilbrook at 1.30pm approx.

or email: stephenskinner@telecomplus.org.uk to arrange times.

The walk normally finishes at St Nicholas Church at about 3 o'clock. The walk around the whole of the parish boundary covers 12.4 miles. Last year nearly 30 people started off and most of them completed the whole route – in very gentle fashion.

Candlelit Vigil Friday 1st July to remember the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.

Codsall War Memorial, Station Road 10.30pm. Bring along a candle.

FoSSA (Friends of the Stafford & Stoke-on-Trent Archives) events – our membership number is 25

These are not events planned by the Codsall & Bilbrook History Society so you would need to make your own travel arrangements in order to take part. Chartley Castle and Weston Park:
